ROBERT BURNS MAESTRO MASON

En esta casa nace el poeta el 25 de Enero de 1759


El poeta escoces fue iniciado en la Logia St. David No. 74 de Tarbolton el 4 de Julio de 1781.



En 1784 es nombrado Diputado Maestro en la Logia St. James No. 178
En 1786 al mudarse a Edinburgo se une a la Logia St. John luego Cannongate en Kilwinny.
Ascendido a Companero del Holy Royal Arch en la Logia St. Ebbe en Eyemouth, Escocia en 1787.

Este es el edificio masonico mas antiguo y data de 1736

La autoridad de Canongate proviene de la mas antigua logia de Kilwinning en el distrito de Cunningham, Ayrshire originada en 1140 cuando los maestros constructores Comacine construyeron la abadia en ese distrito.

En 1314 Robert Bruce despues de la batalla de Bannockburn le confiere a sus seguidores la Orden Real de Escocia y entre ellos a uno de los Cunningham dandole el titulo de Earl of Glencairn que fueron los patrones de los Burns. Todo ello se celebra en su poema:
